Our security fibres are used in banknotes, passports, tax stamps and a range of other security documents that use both cylinder mould and fourdrinier papers .
Banknotes
Cotton-based banknotes have adopted security fibres as one of the most reliable anti-copy security features for many years. The fibres cannot be reproduced by printing, therefore, ensuring that only genuine banknote paper may be used.
The fibres may be visible (overt) invisible (covert) or incorporate a machine-readable feature (forensic). Their inclusion has no effect on the performance or physical properties of the banknote paper and the associated security attributes can be selected to conform to the rigorous durability and lightfastness demands of banknotes. Security fibres are not suitable for incorporation into the polymeric substrate used in some plastic banknotes.

Passports
Passports incorporate not just the identity of the holder but represent the positioning and reputation of an individual nation, by showcasing a country’s cultural heritage and cultivating a sense of national pride. Passport designs often incorporate specific colours of a country and its national flag.
Security fibres are an ideal addition to both cylinder mould and Fourdrinier passport paper as they can be supplied with colour bands that reflect the national colours of the country which may also be reproduced in the printing of the passport, the thread used to sew the booklet and any security paper thread embedded within the paper. This makes recognition by border control operatives much easier. The fibres may be visible or invisible, excited by UV to suit.

Tax stamps
Tax stamps are typically the main security device associated with products that incur duty such as tobacco and alcohol.
Due to their rapid and precise application methods tax stamps are lightweight labels with exacting stiffness characteristics.
As a consequence, Security Fibres has developed a range of fibres that are more suitable for the small size and properties of tax stamps. Where the distribution of security fibres within the tax stamp paper substrate is important, our Myriad Fibres™ offer an extremely robust and easily identifiable security fibre option.

Other secure documents
Secure documents include applications such as lottery tickets, event tickets, certificates of authenticity, ballot forms and vital records.
Often these do not include complex security printing and therefore the substrate takes a major role in document security. As security fibres, planchettes, Micro-Marques™ and Starlites™ are directly integrated into the substrate they are perfect for these applications and very easy to verify. They can also contain a machine-readable feature for electronic gate or admission control.
