Micro-Marques™ and Planchettes

Micro-Marques or planchettes™ are precision cut into small paper shapes and symbols, providing an eye-catching and easy authentication.

Planchettes are a well-known security feature which have been used for many years.

Planchettes are small (ranging from 1mm to 2 mm), usually circular discs, which can be coloured or invisible with U.V. fluorescence and comprise different eye-catching, high-security effects. You can see them in the “look through” of the document, which gives the appearance of a miniature watermark   

Optically variable planchettes are made from larger iridescent or holographic material. They need to be fixed to the surface of the security paper to prevent picking-off during the subsequent print process. Printing or copying techniques cannot replicate the iridescent effect and the planchettes appear as black dots on a copied document.

Micro-Marques™ are ideally suited to tickets, ballot papers and events

Micro-Marques™ can also be produced in different shapes e.g., logo symbols, making them of interest to brand owners. To precision-cut Micro-Marques™ into small paper shapes and symbols, we have developed specialist tooling and processes.

We can combine Micro-Marques with UV Switch, another optically variable effect., to create a sophisticated public feature with covert security.
